The Paper Players - Carry On

I am getting at the last minute for The Paper Players challenge this week...and it didn't take me very long this time either!

With the end of summer approaching I thought I would
use some nice bright colours for my card today.

I was trying to figure out what image to use and thought that with school starting here on Tuesday I would probably need to keep calm while we shop for the things the boys will need.

Stamps:  Carry On
Inks:  Island Indigo Classic Ink
Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo and Whisper White
Card Stock and Summer Smooches DSP

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!!!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge - Snow Much Fun

I am very excited to share that my card has again been featured for Paper Craft Crew Challenge.

Next on to this week's challenge...

Card Sketch for PCC005

I was quite nervous about this sketch as there was a lot of
"blank" space.  I used the Festival of Prints DSP Stack
to choose the colours for this card.

The layers seemed so plain so I used a couple of
Embossing Folders to add some texture.

Stamps:  Pennant Parade and Snow Much Fun
Inks:  Black Stazon Ink, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb
Cake and Lucky Limeade Classic Ink
Papers:  Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Lucky Limeade and
Very Vanilla Card Stock and Festival of Print DSP Stack
Accessories:  Big Shot, Chevron Embossing Folder, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Circles #2 Original Die, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Jewelery Tag Punch

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!!!

Freshly Made Sketches - Frosty Friends

This week's hostess over at Freshly Made Sketches is Lesley and she has come up with a sketch that can "be simple or layered up with paper."

While many of the members of the FMS Design Team are showing cards with signs of autumn (or fall as we call it here!), I jumped right on over to winter and Chirstmas.

I pretty much lifted the image portion of this card from the 2012 Holiday Catalogue.  I don't have the new Snow Flurry Die
(!) so I used the retired Northern Frost Die and Silver
Glimmer Paper to cut out that cute little snowflake.

Stamps:  Frosty Friends and Greetings of the Season
Inks:  Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Gumball
Green, Not Quite Navy, Primrose Petals and Pumpkin Pie
Classic Ink and Black Stazon Ink
Papers:  Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and Whisper White
Card Stock and Snow Festival DSP
Accessories:  Big Shot, Northern Frost Decorative Strip Die, Delicate
Designs Embossing Folders

Try Stampin on Tuesday - Delightful Dozen

The design team over at Try Stampin on Tuesday have come
up with some lovely cards this week using this sketch...

I used the package of Subtles Designer Buttons as my colour guide.

This is the first time I used the Tasteful Trim Die even though
I have had it for a while.  I thought it looked a bit like
streamers in the background.

Stamps:  Delightful Dozen
Inks:  Rose Red
Paper:  Certainly Celery, Perfect Plum, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, So Saffron and Whisper White Card Stock
Accessories:  Big Shot, Tasteful Trim Die, Subtles Designer Buttons

Pals Paper Arts #141 - Heart of Christmas

I created today's project for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge.
Margaret Moody created this sketch:

PPA141 Sketch Challenge

I contemplated making this card using the standard A2 size
but ultimately went with the 5-1/4" square.

The Heart of Christmas stamp was the first thing on my list from
the 2012 Holiday Catalogue and when I saw this sketch I knew I
would use it as the main image for area 6 of the sketch.  The
more I look at this card the more I love it.

Stamps:  Heart of Christmas
Inks:  Early Espresso Classic Ink
Paper:  Lucky Limeade and Very Vanilla Card Stock and Candlelight Christmas DSP
Accessories:  Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!!!

Paper Craft Crew #4 - Open Sleigh

For today's post I used the sketch from Paper Craft Crew.

I opted to turn the design to a portrait layout

I used a few new goodies from the 2012 Holiday Catalogue
and the main image is from a new Christmas stamp set
in the 2012 Annual Catalogue.

Stamps:  Open Sleigh
Inks:  Soft Suede Classic Ink
Paper:  Soft Suede and Very Vanilla Card Stock, Early Espresso Core'dinations Card Stock and Champagne Glimmer Paper
Accessories:  Big Shot, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Owl Builder Punch

Freshly Made Sketches #49 - Sweets for the Sweet

I used Jen Mitchell's sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches to
create a birthday card for my son's 13th birthday.

I sponged the edges of the Marina Mist pieces to make them
pop a little.  I also sponged the edges of the candy pieces
so the edges didn't look so white.

Stamps:  Itty Bitty Banners and Sweet for the Sweet
Inks:  Gumball Green and Marina Mist Classic Inks
Paper:  Marina Mist, Midnight Muse and Whisper White
Card Stock and Polka Dot Parade DSP
Accessories:  Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder,
1" Circle Punch, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch

Forever with You

Today's post is a card again using two challenges.
The sketch is from Try Stampin' on Tuesday and the
colour combination is from Just Add Ink

I just love the Forever with You stamp set...that seems to be the problem I have with Stampin' Up! products, I love everything!...and was thrilled when the coordinating Window Frames Collection Framelits was introduced in the 2012 Holiday Catalogue.

Not too much Garden Green on this card but
just enough to add the right balance.

Stamps:  Forever with You
Inks:  Chocolate Chip Classic Ink and
Garden Green Stampin' Write Marker
Papers:  Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla
Card Stock and Neutrals DSP Stack
Accessories:  Big Shot, Window Frames Collection Framelits,
Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Victoria 5/8" Crochet Trim

2 Challenges in 1 Card - Quint-Essential Flower

Today's post is a card created using two challenges...Freshly Made Sketches and Create with Connie and Mary

This is a great sketch by Tui Nathan and has so many possibilities.  I chose to combine this sketch with this awesome colour combo,

2012 Create Challenges-030

Midnight Muse and Gumball Green are two great new In Colors along with the ever cheery Daffodil Delight.

When I saw the Quint-Essential Flower single stamp in the 2012-2013 Annual Catalogue I just knew I had to add it to my it bad that I call my stamps a collection?  Anyway, I thought this flower would fill the square in this sketch beautifully.  I finished with a little sentiment punched out with the cutest little punch.

Stamps:  Lovely Little Labels and Quint-Essential Flower
Inks:  Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green and Midnight Muse Classic Inks
Papers:  Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Midnight Muse and Whisper White Card Stock and 2012-2014 In Colour DSP Stack
Accessories:  Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Scallop Squares Duo Bigz Die, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, 2-1/2" Circle Punch, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Little Labels Punch Pack

Today's post is for this week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge.

With the matching Framelit Dies stamping and cutting out the image was a breeze!

Artful*Inkers Shoebox Swap

The Artful*Inkers have been swapping like crazy lately!  I attended a team meeting Friday evening where we did a Shoebox Swap.  I have never done one of these before and it was a lot of fun.

Our swap cards had to have all Big Shot elements completed and the cards needed to be quick.  I just love the Blooming with Kindess stamp set from the Annual Catalogue, it is so pretty and the sentiments are beautiful both in their meaning and script.  I used Clear Block D to make the background image for the flower, it is a neat technique to add colour without the need for another layer of card stock or DSP.

Stamps:  Blooming with Kindness
Inks:  Chocolate Chip
Papers:  Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla Card Stock
Accessories:  Big Shot, Framed Tulips Embossing Folder,
Clear Block D

Holiday Catalogue Swap with the Artful*Inkers

My upline and leader of the Artful*Inkers, Donna Henley, thought
it would be a fun idea for our group to do a card swap with
products from the 2012 Holiday Catalogue.    Diane Hilborn was
kind enough to volunteer to be the hostess for the swap.  There
are so many beautiful new products in the catalogue that it was
a little difficult to decide what to use.  I finally narrowed things
down and this is what I came up with.

I was trying to get a bit of a vintage feel for this card so I decided
not to colour in the image.  The Round Designer Ribbon Slides
add a nice touch to the ribbon and sentiment.

Stamps:  Winter Memories
Inks:  Early Espresso Classic Ink
Paper:  Early Espresso, Gumball Green and Naturals
White Card Stock
Accessories:  Big Shot, Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder,
Window Frames Framelits, Round Designer Ribbon Slides,
Early Espresso 1/8" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon

Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge #268 - Evergreen

There is a great sketch over at Stamping 411 this week!

I participated in a Holiday Catalogue card swap and was inspired by one of the cards I received.

I am a little giddy about the way this card turned out!  It doesn't show very well in the photo but the tree is covered with Dazzling Diamonds and is super sparkly...and I love the little star cut out from Silver Glimmer Paper.   Now those of you who have used the Labels Framelits know that each layer leaves about a 1/4" border, but for this card I didn't want that much of a border.  What did I do, you may ask?  I took the framelit that I cut out the tree with and cut around the outside with an xacto knife. It was a bit of extra time and effort but I love the result.

Stamps:  Evergreen and Open Sleigh
Inks:  Cherry Cobbler and Gumball Green
Papers:  Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green and Very Vanilla Card Stock, Silver Glimmer Paper and Be of Good Cheer DSP
Accessories:  Big Shot, Labels Framelits, Dazzling Diamonds, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Paper-Piercing Tool, Stampin' Pierce Mat, Festive Paper-Piercing Pack, Gumball Green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon

Freshly Made Sketches #47 - A LOT of Sponging

I haven't done a Freshly Made Sketches challenge is a while.  Jennifer Timko is the hostess this week and she created a really great sketch.

I took a look at the sketch this week, took some time to
pondered things and finally came up with butterflies!

Everything except the card base has been sponged on this card!  I wanted things to pop a little without adding too much bulk to the card.  In my original vision I was not going to add the four smaller butterflies but when I tried them I really liked them so on they went.

Stamps:  Apothecary Art
Inks:  Baja Breeze, Basic Gray, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz
Papers:  Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz
Card Stock and Twitterpated DSP
Accessories:  Big Shot, Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels

Paper Craft Crew Challenge 2

I am so honoured that the Paper Craft Crew featured my
card from last week's challenge so I decided to see
what I could come up with for this week's challenge.

I often see a card sketch and spend hours mulling things
over in my brain.  When I saw this I had a pretty good
idea what DSP I was going to use and what I was
going to use as my focal point.

I really like how this turned out and I think it make a
great masculine looking card, which I find a little
bit tricky to come up with.

Stamps:  Just Believe
Ink:  Midnight Muse Classic Ink
Paper:  Midnight Muse, Soft Suede and Summer Starfruit
Card Stock and Comfort Cafe DSP
Accessories:  Modern Label Punch, Postage Stamp Punch, Square
Scallop Punch, Naturals Designer Buttons, Linen Thread

SQSC 50 aka Paper Craft Crew 1 - Topsy-Turvy Celebration

My niece celebrates her birthday this month and as she
lives in Australia, I need to make sure I get her card in the mail
with extra time for the postal systems to get it to her on time!
I used the sketch challenge over at
which from what I can gather has changed to

This is what I came up with.

I really love this set, it is just so cute!  I looooove so many of the Stampin' Up! stamp sets and am fortunate enough to get most of
what I love but just because I own these lovely stamps doesn't
mean I always use them.  Come on I am not the only one that has stamps sets that have never been used when they retire!!!  I am
making a real effort this year to use every stamp set I buy at
least once before it retires.  With this blog and the different
challenges and team swaps I participate in I am sure I can do it!

Stamps:  Topsy-Turvy Celebrations
Inks:  Daffodil Delight, Pretty in Pink and
Rich Razzleberry Classic Inks
Paper:  Pretty in Pink, Rich Razzleberry and Whisper
White Card Stock and Polka Dot Parade DSP
Accessories:  Scallop Trim Border Punch, Big Shot,
Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Rich Razzleberry

PPA140 - Papillon Potpourri

This week's challenge over at Pals Paper Arts is a colour challenge using a combination directly inspired from Stampin' Up!'s Color Coach.

I am participating in a Holiday Catalogue card swap with my upline's group next Friday and the hostess stopped by to pick my swaps up for me on her way up to the cottage.  I wanted to enclose a thank you card and used this challenge as a starting point.

There are three different butterflies in the Papillon Potpourri stamp set that can be punched out with the Elegant Butterfly punch and I had trouble deciding which one(s) to use.  After trying a couple of different combinations this is what I decided looked best.  I was happy with the card and as I looked at it a little bit longer it dawned on me that rhinestones would add a nice touch of bling.

Stamps:  Kindness Matters and Papillon Potpourri
Inks:  Marina Mist, Real Red and Summer Starfruit
Paper:  Marina Mist, Real Red and Whisper White Card Stock and 2012-2014 In Color DSP Stack
Accessories:  Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Scallop Trim Border Punch and Elegant Butterfly Punch
